Isn't It Time to Tear Down the Vatican Yet?
Vatican Calls On Catholics To Stop Supporting Amnesty International
The Vatican said today it was suspending all financial aid to Amnesty International and called on all Catholics to stop supporting the human rights group, accusing it of promoting abortion...
The council's president, Cardinal Renato Martino, said the "suspension of all financing of Amnesty by Catholic organisations and by individuals" is the "inevitable consequence" of the group's recent decision to support access to abortion for women who had been raped or whose health was endangered by their pregnancy...
In a statement, Amnesty Italy said it had decided in April to involve itself in issues relating to abortion "to the extent that they are directly linked to its actions for the right to health and against violence against women."
As a result it will call for an end to the penalisation of women who have abortions and the right of women who are victims "of sexual violence or incest" or run health risks to have abortions...
The site also quotes Widney Brown, one of the heads of Amnesty International, who pointed out that 68,000 women die each year from backstreet abortions.
Brown said that Amnesty's views on abortion were inspired by its international campaign to combat violence against women...
In 1996 the Catholic Church took a similar measure in cutting off aid to the United Nations children's fund UNICEF, also accused of promoting abortion.
UNICEF was distributing in refugee camps around the world a post-intercourse spermicide for young women or teenage girls who had been raped...
If the Catholic Church were a dog, we would be entirely justified in taking it out back and shooting it. Not only is it decrepit, it's vicious.
It is vicious and inhuman to advocate forcing women who have been raped, who have been victimized, sometimes as a byproduct of genocidal campaigns ironically enough (look at Darfur) to give birth to children who are the products of one of the lowest imaginable atrocities that can be perpetrated upon a human being. There is no justification for taking such a stand; only the profound mental illness of fundamentalist schizophrenia can find anything good in such a philosophy. This is an ideation that would condemn human beings to terrible, excruciating death in the name of what they think is life. This is the advocacy of profound horror. This is a theology of nature in its bloodiest-fanged form.
There are those who support this, obviously, in the name of creating something called a "culture of life." That phrase is the most Orwellian double-speak imaginable, particularly coming from the representatives of a religion that teaches that the physical body is of no importance and that only the soul they postulate matters. It's a philosophy that hasn't changed since the days of the Inquisition and is unlikely to ever change so long as the institution teaching it exists. It's no "culture of life," but in fact a cult of death. Their concern is at its heart to send more souls to an imagined place in the sky called heaven, and that happens only upon death.
How fitting that the leader of such a cult was himself once a member of another death-cult, having been a Hitler youth, a fact which he has himself justified by the assertion that everyone was doing it, and that to not join up (which he did voluntarily while a seminary student) was tantamount to death. So what? Was he afraid of getting into this wonderful heaven to which he is so willing to send raped and sick women if they will but refuse to terminate a pregnancy? Why was it alright for him to save his own life by supporting those who committed genocide but he now seeks to deny victims the choice to save their own?
These leaders are sick, sick people. Haven't their priests enough little boys to rape that they need to advocate creating new generations of victims and orphans whom they can more effectively control?
Rome needs parking lots. It's time to tear down the Vatican, put the Pope and his cronies to work as prostitutes as befits them, distribute the great store of treasure created and gathered upon the backs of the sick, the victimized and the impoverished to those who could benefit most from it, and pave the whole thing over with tarmac thick enough to bury all memory of what these brutes wanted to do to humanity. Let the Vatican take its proper place in history alongside feudalism, slavery and cannibalism. The institution has been a rabid animal for too many centuries already. It's time to put it out of human misery; there's enough already, and no need for medievalist men in gowns to use religious influence to create even more.
