Life: Just Add Water

After weeks of near-silence, the woods are again filled with the calls of tree frogs tonight. I can distinctly make out green and pine woods frog calls. After a long absence of rain (we're still about 14.5" below normal for the year), we've had two days with at least a little bit, and a good soaking this afternoon. On a normal evening at this time of year, the volume of the frogs is so great here that one's ears hurt after a few minutes. Lately, there had been cricket calls, but otherwise dead quiet. Even tonight it's not nearly as loud as usual. Nonetheless, they're coming back. I wonder where they've been.

Life always finds a way.
