On Not Looking My Age
I had an amusing experience today while dropping off some packages at the local EZ Mail. The clerk, who was maybe in his mid-20's, started raving to me about a woman who walked out just as I was walking in. To quote:
Did you see that woman who just walked out? She was old, probably 40, but man did she have a nice body!He was probably right about her age, but I don't think he figured mine out correctly or he wouldn't have used the word "old" in there.
People always think I'm younger than I am, despite my being bald and having a beard with noticeable numbers of gray hairs. It's something I must have inherited from my mother, who worked as a fashion model well into her 30's. Not that I mind; I guess most guys in their early 40's are less well preserved than I am. I'd say I owe it all to clean living, but I haven't done much of that. It must be something heritable.
