Hilton Rwanda

I don't usually delve into the slimy world of celebrity gossip, but there's something just too weird/funny/sick about this one...

Paris Wants To Shed Her Party-Girl Image

...Hilton says she is now committed to using her celebrity status for the greater good. Next month, she plans to pack her bags for Rwanda to bring attention to the African country.

"I'm scared, yeah. I've heard it's really dangerous," she says. "I've never been on a trip like this before."

Hilton, accompanied by a children's charity called Playing for Good, will visit schools and health-care clinics as part of a five-day charity mission. The trip will be filmed; not surprising, given Hilton's love of the camera.

"I love having everything documented," says Hilton, who hopes to turn the footage into a film. "It shows people what everyday life is like for me, how hard I work. There are a lot of misconceptions about me..."
Catch that? Yes, there are so many misconceptions about Paris Hilton. The biggest one I have is that she's a vapid, flighty, talentless media whore who lives her life for notoriety. Traveling to a disadvantaged country with a bunch of cameras and an eye on making a film to change her public image will certainly go a long way in dispelling my "misconception" of her. Nobody who does such a thing could possibly be a self-serving spotlight-sucker.

Hey, maybe she can get hold of whoever that other anorexic sack of undeserved fame and neuroses was that used to be in a TV show with her and do a new series! The two of them could take their private jet to various undeveloped, suffering places around the world and film the ensuing hi-larity. They could call the show Simple Life: Mud Huts and Dysentery. Every third line will be "eeeewwwwwwwww." I can see it all now. I smell HIT!

I particularly find the last line endearing. Yes, the whole point of this little outing is to "show people" what life is like... for Paris Hilton. It will show us all how hard she works. It's nice that she's giving the people of Rwanda such a wonderful opportunity to give back to Paris Hilton.
