McCain: A Keen Grasp on Foreign Relations

Say what you will about John McCain, I'll give him this much: he has an understanding of foreign relations that few others have the insight to share. Just yesterday, McCain made a statement at a press conference in Phoenix, AZ that I guarantee you won't hear anyone else make:

I was concerned about a couple of steps that the Russian government took in the last several days. One was reducing the energy supplies to Czechoslovakia. Apparently that is in reaction to the Czech's agreement with us concerning missile defense...

He's really hit the nail on the head here, hasn't he? In fact, I checked this morning and it turns out that Russia hasn't just reduced energy supplies to Czechoslovakia, they appear to have cut them off entirely! Then I did a little more digging and it turns out that the whole world seems to have ganged up on Czechoslovakia. Not only Russia, but China and the US as well, appear to have stopped all delivery of energy, medicine and agricultural products to that unfortunate country!

World leaders, what do you have against Czechoslovakia? What have they done to you that you would unilaterally isolate them in this fashion, starving poor Czechoslovakians and leaving them without gasoline to fuel their Yugos? From where will they get their supplies of laudanum and antimony pills?

Clearly, this must end, and John McCain is leading the way toward a more pro-Czechoslovakian world. I'm sure that once he's elected president of these 44 United States he'll spend millions of dollars on aid for our beleaguered Czechoslovakian friends. My understanding is that he'll also seek normalization of relations with the Ottoman Empire and free trade agreements with the Hittites and Ostrogoths... and isn't it about time?

Vote McCain for President in '84!
